Interview and Review of Tree Fall with Birdsong
It's been a big week for this mighty little book. Coming off a 3-day tour, two new publications come out and another reading on the horizon for next week.
Many thanks to C. T. Salazar and Celeste Maria Schueler for their insights and beautiful prose about Tree Fall with Birdsong, which have made this the most amazing week for Tree Fall with Birdsong.

First off, is an interview with C. T. Salazar, published in the Southern Review of Books. C. T. asked some really great questions that got me thinking about sound, form, metaphor, and image. We actually had to edit this down to meet the journal’s space requirements, so I may want to go back to some of those saved answers and pull out more good nuggets, maybe to be the start of a blog post or two.
Today, I learned that the Clarion-Ledger of Jackson, Mississippi, published a review by Celeste Maria Schueler, which will also be in the Hattiesburg American and on the Mississippi Books Page soon. Celeste gives a thoughtful and insightful reading. I’m honored that she was willing to do this and that the Mississippi Books Page picked it up for both newspapers and their website.
In other news, I’ve been confirmed for a spot at the Mississippi Book Fair and the Possum Town Book Fair. I’ll have more news about those when I learn what panels I’m on, etc. It’s an exciting time in the life of a new poetry collection, and I’m grateful that Tree Fall with Birdsong has generated this kind of exposure.
Reminder: next week I’ll be reading at Lemuria Books in Jackson, Mississippi, July 24 at 5pm. See you there!
